Bruno Migliorini; Carlo Tagliavini; Piero Fiorelli (eds.). "Custoza". Dizionario d'Ortografia e di Pronunzia (in Italian) . Retrieved 11 September 2019.

Custoza is a rural village located in the southwestern corner of its municipality, next to Villafranca di Verona (6km south), Valeggio sul Mincio (7km west), and Tione dei Monti river. It is 5km from Sommacampagna, 10 from Sona and Caselle, 12 from Verona-Villafranca Airport and 20 from Verona city centre. [7] So to the north, things like pinot grigio, garganega, which makes Soave, and cortese, that makes Gavi. Food pairing? Anything. Really. Both wines have the mettle, depth, breadth and vitality, but also, most importantly, dignified grace, to pair with pretty much anything. I say ‘dignified grace’ because these are not shouty, showy wines that will overshadow delicate dishes. At the same time, they have the gumption to hold their own with shouty, showy food. You could pair these wines across the spectrum, from ceviche to steak. I recently had a meal with the most beautiful roast venison, and I wish I could have tried this wine with it. I’m willing to bet good money it would have outstripped the red wines we had on the table. There are few wines, red and white, I can think of which could be this catholic and generous when it comes to food. The Custoza DOC region has a predominantly Mediterranean and temperate climate. It enjoys moderately cold winters and hot summers that aren't overly hot. The surrounding Lake Garda softens this a little. These circumstances produce a good environment for the production of vines. The elevation of the land and the chilly, nighttime air create the ideal growing conditions for grapes. White fruit, crunchy yellow notes, and citrus notes are particularly enhanced by this climate. Garda moraines were created by soil deposits from the Paleogene's end when there were several ice ages. The mountains that surround the Benaco are made up of debris that came down from the mountains and was carried by the glacier's melting waters. These waters, which are rich in minerals and carbonates, give the wine its distinctive and much-desired saline note. Grapes Varietals of Custoza wine appellation It's an amazing country that's divided by so many different geographical elements, with the Alps to the north and the Dolomites running down through the centre to the volcanoes of the south, that creates, in turn, lots of different terroirs and vineyard spaces for different varieties to grow and to really find their home.Monte Veronese is a semi-hard cheese made from cow's milk that is traditionally manufactured in the province of Verona, in the Veneto region of northern Italy. Custoza wines' full-bodied or even fortified wines go nicely with it. Sea combinations Recommended previously also in The Sunday Times as a “party wine that won’t give you a headache.” They can’t all be wrong, can they’ The colour is so lovely I could happily just look at it let alone drink it. Forget the old, sweet unfashionable rosés of the past; this is a dry, refreshing blend of predominantly Grenache, with Syrah and Mourvèdre which has no oak aging. Deliciously thirst-quenching, strawberry fruit flavours. You will not want to put it down. Add fields here The pile-dwelling period in the Pacengo region of Peschiera is when the domestication of vines in the Custoza DOC area is first known. The Civic Museum of Natural History in Verona is home to bread, wheat, barley, grapevine, fig, and other plant remains that were discovered with the plant remains. A portion of the municipality of Sommacampagna, famed for two battles fought there during the wars of the Italian Risorgimento, is referred to as Custoza when discussing the region's wine production in the second half of the nineteenth century. The Custoza wine received the DOC-regulated designation of origin on February 8, 1971, and the Consortium for the Protection of White Custoza wine was established the following year. Ideal Terroir of the Custoza wine appellation

ORIGIN: Garganega is an ancient vine of Greek origin, passed to Sicily and named Grecanico d’Or. Extremely adaptable to different soils and winemaking techniques, it can generate dry, sweet, still, and sparkling wines. This grape is widespread in Veneto, more than 30 percent of the total number of Veronese vines. In addition to the Custoza area, whose blend contributes from 20 to 40 percent, Garganega is also widespread in the Soave and Gambellare area on the Berici Hills. It gives aromatic wines, pleasant on the palate and nose for the fruity scent. Local culture blends with winemaking to produce the “uniqueness” of Custoza wines. Bricolo says: “The culture and wisdom of our producers in knowing how to create a special wine with the art of blending indigenous grapes grown in a unique terroir, where the morainic soils combine with a Mediterranean climate, is our uniqueness.” Cantina di Custoza, a leading producer of Bianco di Custoza, is located in the on the Morainic Hills, southeast of Lake Garda. The territory includes the provinces of Sommacampagna, Valeggio Sul Mincio, Villafranca di Verona, Bussolengo and Sona. The lush vineyards, immersed in the beautiful land of the rolling hills, give a breath-taking view to anyone who visits it. The village where the winery locates has a rich history of heroism and battles. The courtyards, olive plantation, and cypresses, nestled on the beautiful valleys, enhance the beauty of the winery. The estate covers an area of 1000 hectares. A Large Winemaking Team Dedicated to Wine

THE CUSTOZA WINE

The mixture of clay and gravel guarantees drainage and avoids water stagnation; the predominantly calcareous composition of the soil gives the grapes all their typical mineral component and characterizes the wines with unmistakable sapidity. Should you decide to visit this four-season, family-owned and operated winery, be prepared for a bespoke experience that goes well beyond a traditional wine tasting.
