About this deal

MZ is really good with all these subtle hints that make the readers KNOW that the H is in love with the h even though the h is like huh, what? He's in love with me? Nahhhh bish. Rip is right there with Dex as one of her crappier heroes. He's also trying to be Aiden-like a bit but it wasn't really working.

i think this is going to go down as my least favorite mariana zapata book. i've read all but 2 of her books, and they were all (i think) 4+ stars. she writes really romantic slow burns with hyper realistic main characters. So well written and uplifting! Definitely falling in love with Mariana Zapata’s books. Can’t recommend them more!!’⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ reader review

Girl you crazay. Ruby acts like this is some sort of mistreatment. Whines about it to Aaron and says she couldn't believe he did that. I'm sorry, am I missing something here? Did men eight years ago, not want to have sex on the first date? Also, if a woman does have sex on the first date, is she considered a whore in our heroine's eyes?

Did friends do that? Kiss each other sometimes to make the other person feel better? Yeah. Yeah, they did… Romances are supposed to be sexy, even when they're wholesome. Mariana focused so so so so so hard on the wholesome that now I can read this to a newborn and they will probably have a great time. Life was a gift—sometimes one you wanted to return, and other times one you’d want to keep forever, but it was still a gift." Mariana Zapata books are freaking addictive, once I start one, I just want to binge read until I’m done, seriously! I still haven’t found a book by her that I don’t absolutely love. She’s the queen of the slow burn, and she’s a master at it. Everything about it always feels so right, the purpose, the anticipation, the non gratuitous sex. It’s just perfect! Half the time I wanted to reach into the book and slap-senseless the heroine. Call me heartless but the more the story progressed, the less empathy I felt for her. In the end, I just saw her as a naïve, clueless eternal child-woman suffering from the martyr complex. The second problem, which is more objective and less to do with my own biased opinion, is that when she meets Aaron, that deep, personal connection flies out the window and all she can focus on is how hot he is. She spends more time staring at him than Bella did at Edward in the Twilight movies, and we're constantly told, again and again, how hot he is. This is typical of new adult romances but felt especially shallow given that their relationship was initially forged on something so meaningful, and the author appeared to be trying to rectify their relationship by saying, "No, look, they're not sad losers for meeting online because they're both smoking hot!" I got really tired of hearing about Aaron's abs and perfectly chiseled everything and how he would give sculptors erections, etc. Like, please. Either make this a lust-at-first-sight story, or make it a deep, meaningful story about deep personal connections trumping all, but don't try to have your hormone-laced cake and eat it too and tell me that it's all about ~melding personalities~. More like melding something else, if you pardon my wink, wink, nudge, nudge. I blew up and had to cool down when Luna got butt hurt after Rip repeatedly told her to leave 20X in the hospital and gave him the silent treatment. That was so childish. I hated that she needed other people to validate her. I would think that someone like her would be better at loving herself.

When I thought that From Lukov with Love is my favourite MZ book, I had to reconfigure and add Dear Aaron up there on the highest step of the podium together with From Lukov… because it was nearly perfect. Not to mention, she did it again. They talk about poops, shits, farts, burps, having someone piss on you... Mariana has this uncanny obsession with bodily fluids and I honestly CAN'T. I PHISICALLY CAN'T. Extremely emotional, sweet, cute, our typical Mariana Zapata slow burn recipe, with the most intoxicating s&x scene at the end. She might drag her books out until the 90% mark and only give us ONE sexual encounter, but this woman definitely knows how to write a s&x scene. Her scenes give me butterflies every damn time. Had a really fun time re-reading this one… it just has so many good things going for it — a really strong grumpy x sunshine, a super protective and jealous hero, a one bed trope, a nightmare scene, and one of my all time favorite groveling moments. The Hero, Lucas Ripley (Rip), is Luna's, the heroine, boss at Cooper's Collision and Customs. She's a mechanic/painter (sorry, don't really know the title of her job but she does a lot when it comes to fixing cars) and has been working there for almost a decade. She was only 17 or so when the owner of CCC, Mr. Cooper, took her in and basically adopted her. Crocodiles. The really big ones. I’m pretty sure they have about 4000 or 5000 psi bites.” For the fifty-second time, I shrugged. “I like watching the Animal Channel and Discovery,” I said, making it sound like an apology.
