There is a reason that after all these years this fragrance is still relevant, it is just that damn good! I worked for the leasing and financial services division of an IT company, and we were gathering for our yearly all colleague global business conference in the wake of Y2K coming and going… everyone having breathed a sigh of relief and resting easier knowing we were in the clear after the anxiety of wondering if the world and computing would come to a sudden halt as the calendar turned from 1999 to 2000.

I have heard several people telling me it is super tart and calone packed acquatic, the stuff your uncle would wear etc. L'eau D'Issey Pour Homme by Issey Miyake, is an iconic 90's fragance, a must in every wardrobe, for me, it makes me feel like a poshy guy from the mediterrean, walking by the coast, or chilling around in his yatch, is an everyday fragance. To be honest, the scent is kind of sporty, like a mix of deodorant and Yuzu - the citruses balance it out and it becomes flowery. It burns the skin on my neck where it was applied, and the redolence cloud asphiziates me and makes my face flush and turn red.

I have several other Issey fragrances, all of which are quite beautiful, this is plain ugly and I have 2 almost full 100ml bottles of it which I'd gladly give away to anyone who wants to smell like copper coins in stagnant water. I wish I could say, "good, but not for sensitive skin," or something, but it's not a case where my skin is sensitive; this baby just comes on way too strong. In the early aughts i was crazy about Kenzo Fresh and for the past decade or so i've been using high-end eau de colognes in the citrus family that are more subtle and intimate in their longevity and sillage compared to EDTs and EDPs. The overwhelming first impression is citrus but with a fiery, peppery note which I think must be the cinnamon (happy to be corrected! The character and the beautiful yuzu drydown I fell in love with is nowhere to be found, as well as performance - the 2020 bottle seems to be detectable on skin for good 2-3 hours AT MAX, compared to at least 6+ I had on a 2018 bottle. After drying them down (over the radiator) the aroma of this was incredible , and as a result i went an purchased it.

Sparkling fresh opening notes of yuzu, a Japanese citrus fruit, are brightened with zest of mandarin, combined with verbena, cypress, coriander and sage, settling over the aquatic heart of blue waterlily. Also I agree with what someone mentioned in their review that you can smell certain notes come and go throughout the scent cycle. To those who know the early batches, if you spray too much then you will be treated with the cockroach smell haha but spray it conservatively and its so refreshing. On the plus side (and much to her annoyance) it really did catch the nose of the opposite sex (hey, she bought it so she wasn't allowed to complain). This post, like many have already, is to honor him and the memories his original scent captured for me. The breadth and complexity of the components of this scent is an impressive list, but it's buried so deep in uric acidity that I can't detect any of it. Would absolutely wear this with confidence in the day time, but it would feel out of place after dark.
